Sorry to hear about your injury. I’m also experiencing pain in my left glute that is excruciating when twisting left or bending over. May I ask how you injured yourself? Also, how did they diagnose the tear? My injury came from a lying down hamstring curling machine. They gave me an MRI of my lumbar spine, but that didn’t show anything that would cause my pain. It’s been 9 months with almost no improvement from PT and an SI joint shot.
I understand your apprehension to go through with the surgery, but remember, the people who post on this website are looking for answers because something is wrong. The successful surgeries where people feel good are usually not discussed here because those people are out living their best lives.

@closer0043 I was diagnosed from an MRI of my hip. Later they also looked at my lower back, which also isn't great but they said the back issues wouldn't create the pain I have on the side of my hip. (although the torn glutes can create back pain too). I am/was a very active 71 year old. Probably tore it just because of degeneration and playing pickleball. There was no obvious injury event.
