@jasmf Hello, I have been dealing with chronic low back and flank/oblique pain for almost 3 years now. This started in July of 2023 as sharp, low right back pain sever enough to where my wife drove me to the ER. They thought possibly kidney stones, ran a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis to check all organs, and found nothing.

Ever since that day, I have been to multiple hospitals, have seen many, many doctors (more than 30 medical professionals), have had every image and blood test you possibly can, and no one can tell me why I am in the pain that I am in. There has never been pain in my groin or running down my leg. This has thrown many doctors off, as they ask the same questions about the pain and where it is felt. With no pain in my groin or leg, they scratch their heads and walk away.

The latest area I am looking at is what my primary doctor thinks could be a Neuroma. This is a damaged nerve or nerve bundle that can result from an injury, a surgery, or amputation. There are several types of Neuromas, and the one that involves the Abdomen is called a Ganglioneuroma. They are scheduling a Nerve Block, similar to an Epidural they do for your spine. The doctor will inject into my Oblique muscle area on the right side, and if it is the problem, I am told I will know that day, as the pain should be much less than it has been.

@marcd2k it sounds like you have been on a long journey to find out where your pain is coming from. I hope that this nerve block helps you. Just be aware that sometimes they don’t work the first time a doctor tries this procedure but maybe a second and third attempt will help. Don’t give up! Thanks for writing.
