I have both gout and pseudogout. The latter was found and went undiagnosed for about two years after the gout diagnosis. A Dual Scan CT revealed pseudogout scattered throughout my pelvis and turned out to be responsible for the difficulty I was having recovering from bilateral total hip replacement--I was unable to do the PT exercises that started at the hospital on the day after surgery. I do wonder if I also had pseudogout in my hip joints. We'll never know.

I accidentally discovered that colchicine relieves both gout pain and pseudogout pain when I had my second ever gout flare in a toe. The pain in the toe decreased within hours of taking colchicine but to my surprise (and joy) my hip pain went away later in the day. I am finally making progress on the hip exercises and was able to walk three miles for the first time since 2022. (I had been limited to about a half mile.)

Unfortunately, allopurinol has not been found to lessen gout. No pseudogout cure is currently known.

I'm not sure what you mean by "allopurinol has not been found to lessen gout". My husband has not had a gout flare (knock on wood) since he started taking it almost a year ago.
