I fully understand my racing days are over. Those heart rates of 160 and
over for extended periods in a race are no longer doable for me. I was just
hoping to casually ride longer distances with heart rates in the 130 to 140
with short bursts around 150. Just riding for exercise and not competing.

Hi

I had aortic dissection six years ago repaired 2025with Tevar combined with an open heart 2024 for mitral valve repair as well a CABG procedure the LAD.
I’ve learned a lot from John Ritter foundation talks on YouTube on
Exercise.
My personal experience the beta blockers kill your drive for life plus you can’t live in fear.
I got off beta blockers on my own and my heart rate was ideal 60 -65 as well blood pressure is normal.
If your dissection is type B which it sounds like then I’d start researching Tevar as getting the aorta repaired will get you back to living.
I had my surgeries at northwestern. it is a bigger center.
4.2 is not that big.
I had 4.5 then went to 5.5 then to 8.7 now that was three to four years. I had surgery on last number right a way.
