I am 15 years post op. I was hospitalized with IV antibiotics for 3 days, then released to come back for the Sigmoidectomy. Best thing I have ever done. I have lived my entire life (as has most of my family members) with with Diverticulitis had Then at age 19 while serving overseas my Appendix rupture, turned gangrenous and I needed to have Necrotic Small Bowel resection (removed 18”), also found Meckel's Diverticulum which was also removed. Since then I have had 4 lower bowel blocks replying in several overnight stays. When the Diverticulitis flared up in 2011 I was was terrified of having to get a Colostomy Bag and learning how to deal with that and a new grandchild.. Luckily when I was waking that was the first thing I checked before opening my eyes. NO BAG!
Recovery was great by day five, I was back to chasing my grandchild around again.
Eating certain foods still causes certain issues but nothing like before.
I went from having two colonoscopies a year to two and now finally one every 5 years.
Honestly it is so nice to not have to worry about infections in my abdoment anymore.
No if I could figure out what is happening with my other digestion issues that would be great.`

You are going to be so happy with less to worry about!

Warm Hugs!
CJ
