I am in a world of trouble. I'm 73 & was very athletic & strong into my 40's. 38 yrs. ago I had 2 children in 51 weeks, which caused Pediatric Osteop. 8 mo. later, I fell on snow/ice & shattered my left leg & foot. Soon, my Doc said my Ped Osteo was gone. When I turned 50, I learned I had RA/OA, and also Celiac Sprue (which prob. linked with the arthritis). I was on Methotrexate (7 yrs) + Prednisone (9 yrs), but the arthritis still was awful, so I resolved them via diet. (Yep!) But, at age 61 I had Osteopenia. I took Calcium & kept the strict diet---but in 2020, my DEXA spine was -4.5!---and in '22 & '24, it was -4.7! I'd refused to take drugs bec of my Metho/Pred. fails, and I still won't because of their side-effects. In 2021, my rt shoulder was disappearing (arthritis), and was replaced. My surgeon said my bone broke in surgery, so he packed it with Calcium Hydroxyapatite, which healed fine. I asked why CH wasn't used for Osteoporosis treatments then, and he said the AMA wanted docs to "stay in our own lanes." :O In 2022, I fell on concrete & should have broken many bones---but only my left pelvic bone had some tiny fractures (maybe my strength helped?). So, 3 mo later I started taking some CH with my reg. Calc Citrate (total 1200 - 1400 mg/day). That might be why most of my '22 & '24 DEXA scores did slow in progress, stop progressing, and even reverse a BIT each test (not my spine score). New DEXA scan soon.
My question is: does THRYVE really work? I take Resveratrol & Quercetin already, but nothing to prompt Osteoblasts except the Calc Hydroxyap. Is there a med that promotes Osteoblast creation? Thank you for your input. terithethin
@terithethin I've done so much research since I was diagnosed 3 years ago and have never once heard of - or read about - Calcium Hydroxyapatite. ? It sounds like one form was put into your shoulder and the form is taken orally.
I googled THRYVE: “Thryve” is a brand-name supplement that combines vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds meant to support bone health. It’s not a medication, and there isn’t strong evidence that it can increase bone density or treat osteoporosis, especially in more severe cases. At best, it provides general nutritional support, similar to taking vitamin D, magnesium, or calcium, but it doesn’t rebuild bone in a meaningful way.
Hopefully someone with actual experience will share.
These are the medications that promote osteoblast creation: Teriparatide (generic Forteo), Abaloparatide (Tymlos) and Romosozumab (Evenity).
