Great topic, and timely. My surgery was in 2013, and I had a revision this year. Sort of like starting over. This week, I had my yearly recheck with endocrinology at Mayo. Part of the ZOOM call was an educational presentation to remind us of important things to keep doing.

Here are a few topics they covered:
• 30-30-30 Rule, no fluids 30 min prior to meal. 30 min to eat, no fluids 30 min after
• 64 oz fluids
• 60 to 80 grams of protein
• Vitamins and Supplements - this varies per person, best to check with your provider
• Exercise, resistance, stretching, cardio, and daily activity. Again, everyone is different. If not active, start slowly.
• Emphasized journalling - food and exercise - I have never been good at that
• Snacking vs Grazing - Snacking is planned and for a purpose (hungry), while grazing is usually unplanned and characterized by continuous, mindless eating.
• Support - via friends, family, or support groups (like Connect)

Good for you for joining the Y. I wish there were one in my town. After the Zoom call, my one focus area going forward will be more exercise. I am active, but do not do any strength or cardio exercise. Maybe now that the weather is getting nice, my goal is to get out and do more walking.

@roch
Thank you the tips! Definitely a good reminder. I have been drinking fluids with food. Before and after. Im Definitely going to use a lot of the suggestions. Good luck to you and thanks again!

@roch - will you explain more about the 30-30-30 Rule and its purpose?
