@methel: What a story about beating the odds! New information for me as I didn't know meningiomas could bleed. What sympton did you have/what sensation were you feeling that told you that you needed to call 911?

I honestly don’t remember what made me decide to call. Pretty sure it was sudden though. I remember panicking and thinking “What is taking them so long to answer?” And then saying “ I think I’m having a stroke” and that’s it until waking up in the neuro ICU and watching a tear run down my 30-something son’s face, and thinking “ Why is he crying?”

From later reading I learned that meningiomas can bleed for several reasons: the tumor has invaded the wall of an existing blood vessel and weakened it or the new blood vessels the tumor has grown for its blood supply are more fragile and more easily bleed. I never asked why they thought mine bled, but it’s a big deal if it happens.
