@lkirnbauer Hey, They say Coconut oil helps in soothing the affected areas, reducing the size of the lesions and the burning sensation. It also helps remove bacteria since brushing can be painful I can't always do the best job. Because my issues include sore inflamed gums it seems to help sooth them. I have only been doing it about 2 wks and have been happy with it. Better to use unrefined oil, the hard stuff. It melts pretty quickly, swish it around as long as you can... 5 min or more they say. I make it maybe 3 min so far. Spit it out in the garbage and then brush your teeth. I also use sesame oil which is a liquid oil but they say the coconut is better.
I went to my doctor who referred me to an ENT. All she did was a buccal swab which showed some stuff related to OLP, I have not had a biopsy. She prescribed the Triamcinilone paste and Dexamethasone after I asked for it, she and my doctor thought it was OLP when seeing the white lacy patterns. The Paste is messy but it really does help clear up the big sores or bumps I may get much quicker.
I have not had any stomach issues with it which I have heard can be an issue. But I only use it when I have to. I have not used either med in a few weeks after I got it under control after having Covid. You should see your doctor, they don't do much, as it seems they don't have much to say or answers for us sufferers, but at least you can get a medicine to reduce the sores when you do get them. I suffered all last year with the worst sores and pain... I was so stressed out about it which didn't help. Now I feel like I have some control and knowledge with all the research I have done. If you do go... be precise in your description, armed with what you've learned here and with research. Good Luck!
