I was 81 in January. My neurologist is going to be changing me to using the catheter valve. The next time I go to have the catheter changed. Your words are encouraging. As far as waiting with the valve how often do you do that do you wait to get a feeling or do you just do whatever so many hours? Do you have any hints or caution that I should be aware of? I had a spinal surgery which left me then with a neurogenic bladder. I’m still finding this all new and sometimes a little concerning on my part. To hear from a man like you has been doing this three years, puts me more at ease. Thank you for taking time to share with me. It makes me feel like I’m not all alone. Have a nice day.

@2will2 with the valve closed obviously urine builds up in the bladder. I feel the urge to go every three hours or so. I need the catheter because my bladder muscle is shot.
The valve is just not a big deal. Buy them from Amazon. I take one in every time the catheter is changed and the nurse just sticks it on the end of the catheter then it tucks up inside my underwear.. I change the valve every month, even though I only have the catheter changed every three months.
Let me know how you are doing. Trust me, you are far from alone.
