@tvaughn1 Thank you for the info. After returning to the U.S. after traveling around So. America on business, I got sick just before departing from São Paulo with four quick changeovers at airports in the States. I was violently ill--fever, non-stop diarrhea during the entire 16-hr flying time, and for the next two weeks. I checked in and out of ER twice during the past few weeks, and because my blood pressure was low, an advice nurse suggested I once again return to ER. I'm holding off--have a consult with my pcp and an Eastern naturalist doctor tomorrow. I have functional neurological disorder--my brain sends the wrong signals to my body resulting in tics, tremors, dizziness, and overall poor motor coordination; also have diverticulosis-itis--have been hospitalized for that in the past after developing sepsis; was diagnosed with colitis and dehydration-related kidney failure--told that there's no long-lasting damage. I've never been so fatigued in my life. I was an athlete my entire life and took excellent care of my body...other than riding giant storm waves where wipeouts took a major toll on my spine, and other sports which didn't particularly go easy on my joints.
I've tried neuro feedback in the past, doing about two dozen sessions which resolved nothing. I'm not taking any pharmaceuticals right now, except for an occasional 0.25 or 0.5 mg alprazolam, which I get from my wife. I can't find a doctor who will prescribe it (although it's the best thing for my FND) in my area--my wife gets it through a friend in Brazil where fewer and fewer doctors are writing prescriptions, regardless of the dosage or client's conditions. That, meditation, and Tai Chi are helping to ward off the effects of FND. I really don't know what else to do or try; but at least I can be grateful that I'm old and won't be around too much longer. For me, death is not a big deal and after having had near-death experiences while surfing giant waves, am not all all afraid to go. I'm sticking around now because my wife needs me and I don't want to leave her alone. I'm extremely weak and am getting more and more depressed as my body isn't recovering the way it did when I was younger.
