I ended up staying at the Residence Inn and was very happy with it. The underground walkway was very convenient and fast. The staff were really friendly and they were very understanding that we didn't know how long we would be staying until we talked with the doctors, so they told us just to let them know if we would need to stay another night. I liked that the rooms had a full-size refrigerator, so I was able to keep leftovers to have for the following day.

I also liked that the public parking garage was right next door.

As for tips for others preparing to go to Mayo, I would recommend booking a room well in advance. I think there was a convention going on at the same time we were there, so some hotels filled up fast.
