Just to update, and full disclosure I'm doing the IMRT therapy here in Hawaii.
Got those teeth pulled, had my 3rd chemo session yesterday starting 3rd week of radiation today. So far, so good.
Taste is starting to go and a little pain at the back of my tongue, but eating is ok. Lots of aloe on the neck so my skin is still pretty good. Eating
Big problem is heartburn. I'm eating Tums like candy.

You’re going to do just fine! I had similar diagnosis and they gave me photon and chemo at Mayo. Wait list almost 3 years ago was too far out. Doing just fine with IMRT. Try “aquaphor” on your neck as it’s a bit thicker than aloe and seems to last much longer through the night! Godspeed!

@toleolu good luck to you! You might ask your doctor about following the GERD protocol to control your stomach acid. Also, suggest being aware of which foods cause the greatest amount of discomfort.
