We did not have the hip replacement done here in San Diego. We flew to Chicago and had Dr. Berger do the THR. As far as surgeons in San Diego, we haven't been able to find one we like. We saw Dr. Bugbee at Scripps La Jolla and didn't like him at all. There is a doctor at Keck USC that we liked very much, but he wouldn't do a revision, his name is Dr Oakes. Have you found a surgeon in San Diego you like? We've seen a total of 7 surgeons, the only surgeons that are willing to do a revision are located in Utah and in DC, both we liked very much. The surgeon in DC, has done tons of successful revisons.

Dr. Berger has an incredible reputation. I would not hesitate to go to him.

I have an incredible surgeon who replaced my left hip four years ago and my right knee six months ago and I had zero post surgery pain each time. My guy, Jimmy Chow, is in Phoenix, not San Diego, but it is only 45 minutes away by air and 5 hours by car.

Dr. Chow is the primary inventor of the Superpath method of hip replacement. Whether he would be a good choice for you I can't say. Also, he doesn't take insurance nor does he participate in Medicare. About 20% of his surgical practice is doing revisions.

@who is the DC surgeon?
Thanks for his information. vkent
