Hi there. No I did not but I passed out from Forteo so could not continue. Sounds like your reaction was intense but then managed. Reclast and Prolia are not bone builders. Choose your poison, maybe another bone builder, which leaves you with Evenity. They ALL have terrible POSSIBLE side effects but they may not affect you at all. I took notes on positives and possible side effects, so I can continue to make choices as time goes on. I recommend doing this for yourself. I was on alendronate, then tried the Forteo once, have been on Prolia for 1.5 years but want to switch to a bone builder. I am now considering Evenity, but want to rule out concerns about cancer and heart disease and have some ideas on that for myself.
says there can be acute reaction to Reclast (reabsorptive not a bone builder) like what you described and you should be well hydrated before infusion.
I'm also going to talk to doctor about DHEA hormone. since there is clear evidence now that it is effective. I will post more on this but not allowed to cite the link here. I want to get a blood test to measure whether my DHEA is currently low so I know whether I need that. This is my first post on this site.
So sorry you had the femur break from Alendronate, which is listed as a possible side effect. Are you keeping up with Calcium and D? Had a blood test on those?
If I were in your shoes I'd consider staying on the Teraparatide since you were able to manage the side effects and some subsided. Might be worth it for the bone building. The other meds, other than Evenity, are not going to build bone. Improvement, if any, is slow because reabsorptive drugs just prevent bone loss they don't build bone. And less effective to go from a reabsorptive to a bone builder, better to go the other direction.
Depends on your age and what you want to be able to do, I think. And you can't just go off everything after Prolia or will have rapid bone loss, must continue with something. Let's stay in touch. I have appointment with my doctor in a couple of weeks, now recovering from a stress fracture with no new activity so I am concerned to do something new.
