Diffuse pain after injury ?

Posted by tami9 @tami9, 4 days ago

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to find some meaning. Hopefully you can help me.
Almost a year ago, I suffered a quadriceps tendinitis injury during sports and since then I developed a diffuse tension in my leg with pressure under my foot when I’m standing too long.
No medication help and the exams are all clear.
Has anyone suffered something similar ? It doesn’t have to be the leg but maybe another part of the body where you have diffuse pain after an injury ?

Thank you in advance ! I’m desperate for answers

Have you seen a physiatrist - physical medicine doc specializing in sports medicine? That’s what I’d try. Good luck!

@tami9 This could be a neurological phenomenon called referred pain.
Here are some articles about it:
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/myofascial-pain-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20375444
and
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/25238-referred-pain
Sometimes alternative medicine, especially acupuncture, can help to interrupt the neural pathway that is causing this referred pain. Many insurance plans will cover acupuncture to treat a specific physical issue - you may want to check. If the pain is severe enough to interfere with your life, you might consider referral to a pain clinic.
