Problems with Sleeping on Orgovyx

Posted by rnpalarino1 @rnpalarino1, Mar 18 7:23am

I am almost 80 years old. Gleason score of 9. Prostate removed over four years ago. Biochemical recurrence after two years. Put on Orgovyx. I have been on and off the medication for over two years. I can’t have radiation because of complications from removal of my colon-I have what is called a J-Pouch. Orgovyx appears to be holding the cancer back and I don’t have many side effects. However sleeping is a problem. I have been using Ambien on and off to get a good night’s rest. Thoughts from the group please about how to get a good night sleep without using Ambien. Or should I just keep taking it periodically?

Because it’s legal where I live, I cut a CBD GUMMY into quarters and take it at bedtime. I’m 15 months in, and have suffered from lack of sleep and continued joint pain since the beginning. It also seems to help with my stomach problems. The dosage was arrived at through trial and error, with the goal being the minimum mount required daily. No matter, just focus on the end.

Would you be so kind to share name of a brand and dose that you bought ?

If it is more convenient for you please send me a PM. I am a caregiver and unlike my husband who sleeps like a rock I have really trouble staying asleep. I fall asleep at 1 am (when I go to bed) but than I wake up at 4 :30 am or 5 am.

At this point I sleep only about 4-5 hours a night and I am exhausted. Benadryl does not help much any more ....

I use Incredibles. My preferred flavor is strahhhbarry. The dosage is 100mg THC and CBD. By cutting into quarters, my dosage is then 25 mg. I don’t get brain fog in the morning with this amount. Yours may vary. I do not do recreational drugs of any kind.

@surftohealth88 Try The Hemp Doctor online; many different formulae - some with mixes of THC/CBD.
My wife has tried a bunch of them and now uses the Nightime Extended Relief Berry Blast Gummy (10 mgs)AND a Kayo Relax Watermelon (15 mgs) together. They give her the best uninterrupted sleep and the ability to fall back asleep if she awakens to use the bathroom.
One Caveat: My wife has and does use marijuana for years so her tolerance is probably higher; you may need less but not always depending on your own metabolism. Best,
Phil

Thanks so much Phil for the info and for sharing < 3. I will check it ASAP. I went to "Incredibles" and imagine what - they do not ship to CA (???) I hope to God that Hemp Doctor does : ((. I was shocked since CA was one of the first states to legalese medicinal hemp and contacted them and they wrote back that it has something to do with some CA regulations, OMG , I guess they protect profit of their local "growers" here lol or what ?
Anyhow, I went to a doctor and she prescribed to me Trazodone (supposedly it is prescribed for insomnia in small doses) but of course, I had the rare side effect *sigh - heart racing !!! Luckily I took only half of a pill since I know that I react to meds in unusual and "rare" ways : (((. So I was laying in bed with heart racing like crazy and at the same time groggy and falling asleep which was very scary thing. Than as soon as I fell asleep there was strong shaking and sounds of crackling and jingling and whole caboodle of unholy sounds and vibrations - EARTHQUAKE ! 😳 I was downstairs faster than my husband had a chance to even sit up in a bed lol - I am terrified of earthquakes since as a child I experienced some terrifying ones where things were falling and walls cracking and me running down the stairs being bounced like a bouncy-ball until I reached a door and than I was not able to open it since of course with violent shaking door posts move left and right and back and forth and one can not open a door 😵. Anyways, fast forward - when I feel even smallest earth movement I act like a "cat on a speed" and end up out before geological service even has a chance to make an announcement. Oh yes - instructions say "drop, cover and hold" - *pffffftttt ahhahaa, NEVER it is going to happen with me - no way siree lmao. Of course, with my wonderful karma and amazing luck in life I ended up living in California of ALLLLL places in this world : / ...

So, I will check Hemp Doctor now : ))), wish me luck ! And, yes, do not worry, I will start with minuscule particles of a gummy since my body is weird indeed lol.

@surftohealth88 🤔🤔🤔 Do you think that maybe the constant fear of nocturnal earthquakes is keeping you awake?? NOT trying to be funny since it has to be a terrifying experience…I’d pitch a freakin tent OUTSIDE and take my chances with the coyotes!😳

Ahahahaaa, I wish that was the case XP, easy fix, as you see ; ), tent in my beautiful rose garden would really be very romantic notion and easy solution ha ha .
Alas, something much more scary is keeping me awake - that damn PC !!!! 😖 *sigh I fall asleep just fine, but at 4 am when we all go into "shallow sleep phase" I wake up and "remember" that the light of my life has PC , and my sleep time is over : (((.

@surftohealth88 Yeah, I know that feeling well - and so does my wife who nightly had ‘the committee’ - as she calls it - convene a meeting in her head at around 3AM.
After that, sleep was futile but the gummies really seem to do the trick😴😴😴

Please be aware of differences in Cannabis Gummies depending on which state you buy them in. In states where Cannabis is legal and there is a strong regulatory presence, the dispensary gummies must be professionally lab tested to ensure they only contain the substances on the label, the substances are of consistent high quality, dosing is what it says on the label, and tested to make sure there are no impurities. If I'm buying THC and/or CBD gummies I always go to a state regulated dispensary here in Colorado. Some states have legalized Cannabis but don't provide for consumer protection in manufacturing. You should check how your own state regulates (or doesn't) gummy manufacturing. Gummies have been invaluable to me as I wrestle with sleeping while on Orgovyx.

FOR STATES WHERE THC IS ILLEGAL BUT DISPENSARIES OFFER DELTA 8 gummies, please be super aware. There are 100s of cannabinoid isomers in Cannabis. The psychoactive ingredient in Cannabis is Delta 9 cannabinoid. Delta 9 is what is illegal federally and in those states that have not legalized. If a marijuana plant does not have any Delta 9, then it is classified as Hemp. Hemp contains Delta 8, a close isomer of 9, that has much less potent psychoactive effects and is present in the natural plant in very limited amounts. In States where Cannabis is not legal, business have been extracting Delta 8 and infusing high amounts of Delta 8 into gummies and other dispensary products and calling it Cannabis equivalent. Because there is very little Delta 8 in Hemp, it is extracted and concentrated using multiple rounds of distillation with industrial solvents which are known carcinogens and toxins. This extraction process is not regulated by anyone because hemp extracts are considered supplements not drugs and there is no quality control or safety testing. Just a lot of business revenue for engaging in nutritional supplement sales. Of course, many cannabis Delta 8 products are also synthesized in a lab and often sold in gas stations as bath salts or other supplement names.

You wouldn't buy your cancer drugs on the street, be careful of what you buy from seemingly legitimate business selling unregulated supplements. Hopeful this is useful to those wishing to explore cannabis/CBD as an anxiety or sleep aid.

Thanks so much for detailed explanation < 3. I never used marijuana in any shape or form so this is all news to me and perhaps I should spend some time educating myself before embarking on this path.

I was just talking the other day with my husband about all of this and decided to find local CA regulated dispensary since I can ask them for help in finding correct product and finding correct beginner dose. It will also cut shipping cost and with summer coming it will probably help with freshness of a product too.

Once again, thanks for finding time to inform us all about edibles and for detailed explanation of different fractions of hemp. 👍
