What happens during radiation for esophageal cancer?

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer about a year ago. I too have trouble eating certain foods. Has your doctor recommended an endoscopy? During the procedure a biopsy can be taken of the tumor. They can also insert something ( sorry don’t know what it is called) into the esophagus to stretch it. Good luck to you and your husband.

@buckoneill he had an endoscopy 2 years ago that diagnosed him and another one a month ago when eating was becoming increasingly difficult. He had a biopsy the second time. I think you are talking about a stint that would stretch it open but our oncologist said he only does that when all else fails and the patient is at the end of life. My husband asked about it because he did not want a feeding tube. Thank you for your response. So far the radiation seems to be providing very slight relief. Hoping it keeps getting better.
