I had a prostatectomy 16 years ago and was not incontinent at all. 3 1/2 years later, I had radiation and still not incontinent, But six years after that, it started to be a problem. It’s gotten progressively worse over the last six years But I never wear diapers. I wear a pad, And no one has ever noticed my smelling of urine. I wear a clamp if I have to go somewhere for a while I don’t want to have to worry about leaking.
There are solutions for incontinence. I’m having an artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) installed in a couple of months and that will stop my problem almost completely. You don’t have to live with it for the rest of your life. I’m 78 now and it’s an inconvenience, but it Does not prevent me from doing almost anything. The one drawback is going on a long trip out of the country would be difficult. That’s why I’m getting the AUS.

My heart goes to you and I am so sorry to hear that you suffer so much : (. Did you consider surgery to permanently fix a problem or using a clamp ? Many here have good results with both.
Otherwise, there is no actual measure of somebody's suffering - everybody's pain is equal in magnitude, no matter what is causing it. : ((
