As for the knee pain, you need at least an x-ray or CT scan to determine if the pain is with a ligament, tendon, or bone-on-bone spot. I have a left knee bone on bone spot that was very painful until I started taking high dose oral HLA (hyaluronic acid). After a couple of days, it was still tender, but no jabbing pain like at first. I'm very pleased with that.
