@cdammen
I had a friend with fibromyalgia, and she swears by Lyrica. Have you ever tried that? It never helped my seizures or my neuropathy but some people feel it's better than gabapentin.
Take care,
Jake

@merrychristmas I am 86 & experience many of these side effects. I have vestibular epilepsy & continue to wonder if it isn’t easier to go off it & experience the seizures.

Ask the MD about the other anti seizure meds

@1may32ble I too have vestibular epilepsy & 86, I also share your concerns about the side effects particularly brain fog or memory loss overall. It controls the seizures but I wonder with all the side effects I wouldn’t be better not taking it.

In respect to taking Gabapentin, I think we all have to remember that one person may take Gabapentin and have no issues, while another person may take it and have all kinds of side effects. For instance, 15 months ago I took a single Sertraline tablet and the next morning I awoke to uncontrolled movements, stuttering and suicidal ideation, yet millions of people take Sertraline and have no issues. For me, Gabapentin allows me to have a pretty normal life, but that might not be the case for others.

Can I ask what quantity of Gabapentin you take?
I am taking 2700 a day at 900 intervals it for nerve damage due to Shingles last year

@wilmslow - although I've heard others talk about having side effects they really disliked with gabapentin, I took it and had great luck with it. I had postherpetic neuralgia after having shingles maybe 10 years ago, and I itched a lot. The gabapentin calmed that itching without any side effects for me. Seven weeks later, my doctor had me trial off the gabapentin. I was then itch-free without it, so went on without this medication.
