My mother, who lived to 94, observed to us one day that she felt her life was "like a roll of toilet paper - the closer I get to the end, the faster it goes." I doubt this was original with her, but it surely seemed apt!

@bonocon Very apt. It's the mind's self-training at work. As we age we learn stuff, we integrate it (if we have a modicum of intelligence), and we tend to put it to use each waking moment. The aged mind may be slow, but it's agile and has tons of experiential learning and information with which to solve problems. I think most of us find 'pondering' kinda fun, and we do more and more of it. We do it making coffee, sitting on the can, waiting at a traffic light...and before you know it it's lunch, or supper, or it's time to get to bed. 😀

Thank you for that delightful encapsulation of how time speeds up! Loved it!
