Hello @charlenebarnes, Welcome to Connect. So sorry to hear that you are experiencing neuropathy pain along with other inflammation type pains. Have you been diagnosed with neuropathy or started any treatments to see if they help?
I have it and PA has given me medicine for pain and burning sensation; 5 mg per day of prednisone and Pregabalin 50mg before bed. Gentle exercise daily.
Tylenol as needed. So far it’s working well. Good luck with your health issues. Take care.
Have been dealing with it for many years (I am now 80). My best fix: Gabapentin at 3000 mg daily spread throughout the day (with 1800 of it an hour before bedtime) and go to bed with flight socks covered with thick wool sock. Endure some pain during waking hours when you can occupy your mind with various amusements, and get some sleep at night. best wishes!

@nattleu I had neuralgia
between jaw and upper rt teeth. Took 25 micrograms B12 ,METHYLCOBALAMIN
daily. Fixed the terrible pain. You are just on pain killers. Take B12 as well. Low B12 allows all nerves to loose some insulating fat, myelin. Then pain. Check on the internet.Alcohol subtracts b12.Good luck.
Good luck.
Hello,
am 60 (male) and have had 20yrs of combined gradually worsening RLS and SFN. Have done various tests to fairly certainly confirm these diagnoses. Been on pretty much all medications, done acupuncture, Chinese medicine TENS (and other electrical treatments) etc. and currently taking Methadone 5mg (at dinner time). The Methadone helps with the RLS but I still have gradually worsening burning feet for at least 2hrs each night (mostly between 12am - 2am).
Needless to say, poor sleep is challenging and poor prognosis with no known effective treatment is discouraging. I work with a neurologist and intermittently with other practitioners (acupuncture, naturopath, functional medicine) whom I trust - but they have no effective treatments to offer so far. Does anyone here have additional information? Thank you!

I know what you’re going through. I am a 60 year old woman and I am scared. My symptoms came on suddenly. At home I kept falling all over the house because my legs and feet wouldn’t work. I couldn’t drive anywhere without the fear of falling or getting into an accident. I went to the gas station to fill a low tire. When the tire was full I capped the tire. I went to put the air hose back. I took a step back and I fell on my back and hit my head really hard. So I had my friend come get me and she took me to the emergency room, They ran bloodwork and lots of scans. They said they found nothing. And the bump on my scalp was as big as a baseball. As the days passed they transferred me to a nursing home. Now I’m freaking out. Why are doctors so clueless. I found a wealth of information on the internet. That’s how I ended up here. Feels like I’m on fire and someone is sticking pins and needles in my feet, lower legs, Wrists and hands. I wish someone would help me already!

Welcome @bododa, Thanks for sharing the different treatments and challenges you have with restless leg syndrome and small fiber neuropathy. Poor sleep is a challenge indeed. I have small fiber peripheral neuropathy and also have obstructive sleep apnea. A CPAP device helps me but it also provides some challenges of it's own finding the right mask that works for me.

Welcome @cindydom4865, Sorry to hear your balance symptoms came on so suddenly. My neuropathy and old age (82) contribute to my poor balance but I think the neuropathy probably more so. I have had some physical therapy to work on improving my balance but it's a daily struggle for me. I recently fell after stumbling in the kitchen and my glasses put a nice gash on the side of my forehead that bleed profusely. I also had to go to the ER to have a CT scan and MRI to make sure that I didn't have any internal head injury. I was able to go back home but it sounds like they want to make sure you are safe by sending you to a nursing home for rehabilitation while you recover.
Have you talked to the doctors about the pins and needles and other symptoms you are having?
