R/P in May 2020. No salvage radiation. About 3 months post RP in Aug. first PSA was < .1. I was instructed to be tested every 3 month for 2 years, then every 6 months for 3 years. The important lesson for me was into year 3 post RP I missed a 6 month PSA test and went a year before tested. Unfortunately, after that year that I missed, PSA shot up to .78 and now lymph node metastasis. The lack of testing didn't cause the reoccurrence, but I certainly got way behind by not getting tested as I should have.

Probably a dumb question, but I will ask anyway. Dumb question and embarrassing topic, what a combo!

Next week I go for my first PSA and f/u visit after RARP in December. Before surgery I always abstained from sex for a few days before PSA. Is that necessary now? I assume since I no longer have a prostate that sex cannot raise PSA but don't want any unpleasant surprises when I get my test results.

@jeff1963
After a prostatectomy, your PSA should be unchanged After sex. No prostate no PSA to speak of.
