Thanks Annie! Living in the moment has been something I've practiced since reading The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle back in 2005 I think. It is the only way I know to truly enjoy life, even in the hardest times. It takes a lot of practice but is worth it.

Loss of bowel control due to sciatica is not TMI. It's a serious complication called Cauda Equina. For those reading this, please look this condition up so you know the symptoms. If anyone experiences this, get to the ER. It's a very serious form of sciatica that involves loss of bowel control.

And I agree Annie, Mayo Clinic Connect is a great way to share and receive information. I've been on it for about 4 years now, particularly in Joint Disease and Replacements, or somethng like that!

All the best to you Annie! Your spirit is indomitable!

Joe

I went to ER with bowel spincter dysfunction, numbness from knees down in both legs, got sent home, told see Neurology. The appts for Neurology afe 3 months wait...short of Drs here. It never ceases to amaze me how Drs ignore major symptoms until you're on deaths door here in Florida.
6 yrs bedridden, hugely swollen abdominal area, 78 lbs ( 30 weight loss) , obviously VERY ill. I needed laparoscopy to fix what was originally the small abdominal wall tear...now 17 yrs later, im a MESS because Drs dont seem to see " symptoms" as a reason to act. If it shows on scans BE GRATEFUL, otherwise your tossed aside.
In Florida health care is beyond dispicable but thank you Joey for the info about Cuada Equina. I'll mention it to pain Dr.
Im gonna read Eckard...Thanks!!!
