Where is the best place to go for Neuropathy treatment beside Mayo Cli

Posted by jbb12 @jbb12, 3 days ago

I cannot get an appointment with Mayo in Jacksonville. They are full and are not accepting new patients. I have gone to neurologists and spine specialist in Alabama including UAB. Other Mayo Clinics are too far. I am not a diabetic, alcoholic (don’t drink at all), or ever had chemo. I have tried about seven lumbar/caudal injections, stem cell treatment which cost $9000 out of pocket, acupuncture, cryotherapy, etc. I am always in severe pain. I do exercise and workout to do my best to stay in shape. Where is the best place to go for help?

@jbb12, Sorry you haven't found any treatments to help with your severe neuropathy pain. It sounds like you have been through a lot trying to get help and have already seen several neurologists and a spine specialist. I read in your first discussion that all of the neuropathy symptoms started 3 months after you had an emergency appendectomy. Have any of your neurologists or other doctors suggested any other treatments that might help?

I was able to call Cleveland Clinic and get an appointment for my sister's EMG to test for ALS in a week. Regrettably, she did receive a diagnosis of ALS, but she didn't have to wait 3 months to find out and she was extremely happy with the Neuromuscular Neurologist there. She was able to drive from Louisville KY but you may be able to find a reasonable flight.
