These posts are older. My question is if you were monitoring how did it get to stage 4? I have Nodify high risk after being told its infection by 3 doctors. Well it was biopsy did not show anything in nodules both 9 mm, tissue or lymph glands but still being monitored. Why not remove if my risk is high? I have no peace like I’m waiting the floor to fall out from me. I am sorry to be so panicked sounding .. the whole let’s watch it because your risk is high from blood work only ..non smoker and history of bronchitis and asthma life long. I feel the diagnosis is we are just waiting for it to happen.

@alic, I feel for you. It's so hard to know what to do in these cases. Doctors don't want to overtreat, and lung surgery comes with risks, including life-long nerve pain in some cases (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/increasing-pain-over-time-after-video-assisted-thoracic-surgrey/). I know this is difficult, try to focus on the good. The biopsy wasn't clearly cancer, that's great! I've had biopsies that came back right away as cancer (before I was even awake), and I've had one nodule come back as a fungus (only after a second attempt at a second institution). Our lungs are sensitive and can overreact to irritants. I don't mean to sound like I'm dismissing your concern. The potential for cancer is scary. In some cases we need to work with our team and take their recommendations, but only after voicing our concerns. I'm assuming that you've let them know how the waiting is impacting you?
Do you have access to a second opinion at a different clinic? Sometimes, reassurance that waiting is the best plan can help.
