Following this conversation closely as a 72 yo with just-diagnosed osteoporosis and a desire to not automatically go to something like Fosamax, and deeply annoyed that my peer group was denied HRT when we needed it. Now what? Curious about tiny28's experience with HRT. If you are still there, tiny28, can you fill us in on your experience so far?

@crampon yes hello. I couldn’t get in with BHRT unfortunately as it seemed to make me feel quite odd. It lowers blood pressure . I am taking pure fortibone for my osteoporosis and calcium and D3.

@crampon

Would suggest you also explore other conversations and discussions in Women's Health, Menopause and Osteoporosis. I was 76 when I started bhrt (estradiol and testosterone pellet, progesterone and estradiol vaginal cream). Although I knew that it would benefit my bones I also know that I could not expect it to reverse Osteoporosis. My primary reasons for starting bhrt were different and I have had great results overall. I have taken fosomax, forteo, evenity and prolia. I have not had noticeable side effects from any. Is fosomax the only drug discussed so far? I would mention, as you do your research, that sequencing of Osteoporosis drugs is important. Much of the current thinking is that one should start with an anabolic rather than a bisphosphonate. However I don't know your medical history, your dexa scores and I am not an endocrinologist. If you do your own research this will be so helpful in developing a treatment plan with your doc. Let us know how it is going
