Cialis (tadalafil): Is it doing any good & how long to take it?

Posted by peterj116 @peterj116, Oct 19, 2024

My physio recommended 5mg of Cialis per day.
Apparently it assists with repairing/preventing scar tissue from forming (and helps with incontinence?)

How do I know it's doing any good & how long will I need to take them for?
28 Cialis tablets is $200 but I was told that the generic tabs did the same thing. $50 for 28.
So I'm on them.
For how long & what does it even do?

What I'm a bit concerned about is that I've left it too late.
The physio who worked with me pre-op in her unsuccessful attempts to teach me Kegels recommended 5mg Cialis on the first day.
Not a word from either urologist about penile rehabilitation.
Obviously it's going to be more effective if started on day one, but starting a year later.... I may have missed out.

It is not late at all ! Even people who were for long time on ADT and had visual changes and shrinking of the "apparatus" or had shortening after surgery regain normal functionality and size using stretching and PT with a pump. If you had any changes you would know by now and since you never mentioned them I am sure all is well 👍. Yes, there is possibility of some atrophy but as with anything it is all individual. The only thing is - ask your surgeon if pump is safe to use with your new incontinence device (I forgot the name of it, I apologize) since maybe you should be extra careful with that.

And you know what, if your surgeon is not very helpful maybe you can try to find specialist for sexual health in your area - why not ? 👍😃 Maybe you just need a stronger medication like Viagra at the time when you wish to have some fun. There are injections also that are available. Don't give up if that is important for you ! 💗

@stevebritt006 i'm believe i'm 5mg - whatever the smallest dose is. its going to take a while for me to get an erection - my T levels are zero from 6 months of ADT prior to surgery. Onco doc said it will take 6 months for T levels to recover and I'm only at 2 months. so basically that will mean no erections for a year (6 months of ADT and 6 months of recovery). Hopefully something happens before the full 6 months but as I've commented to others - at the time my choices were: keep my wood or keep my life and I chose the later. I never had any erection issues prior to ADT so I'm hopeful that I will get back to my old self and if not I'll deal with it. As I've commented to others - I'm not my penis and I'm sure glad I'm on this side of the dirt - so if beating PC means no erections, I can (and will) live with that so I can spend time with my wife, kids, and grandkids.

I don't see the urologists anymore, so I'll ask my GP next time I see him.

I've just about finished my last box of 5mg tadalafil, with no noticeable change.
I'm thinking of asking my doctor if I should change to 20mg every other day, instead.
I've also started with the pump, but that thing's scary. What's the process? Pump until it hurts? I'm terrified of it bursting like a balloon...

@peterj116 I take 5mg of tadafil daily sometimes 2 tablets. I have the 20mg tadafil presribed from the doctor which helps to get a decent erection for intercourse. Using a cock ring at the base of the penis helps. I also have a pump but it seems to really inflate my penis a bit too much like a ballon bursting.

I take 5 mg Tadalafil daily and try to remain hopeful. I have been on Orgovyx for almost 15 months and have not had a usable erection during that time. With GoodRx, 90 tabs are about $35. Trimix shots gave painful erections, so not helpful. I tried taking 4 tablets to see whether that would enable intercourse, but fatigue and lack of libido won the day.

I use Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs. $15 for 90 days plus shipping, cash pay.

I take 5mg per day. I buy 10mg tablets and break them in half because it is cheaper. My insurance won't pay for them, and the cheapest cash price I found is at the pharmacy at Dillons (Kroger).

I had surgery about three years ago, and have taken them since. I've essentially totally recovered from surgery.
