Anyone With Rotating Vertebrae After Lumbar Fusion?
Good morning, I had Lumbar Fusion surgery at L5-S1 back in November of 2025, about 4 months ago now. By February, I was still having right flank/oblique pain and my doctor tried an Epidural at T11-T12, where this pain would be radiating from. Unfortunately, my pain has been worse since the Epidural on February 10th, just over a month ago.
I have Scoliosis, with a C-curve to the right, and I had been told my spine is also rotated. I am just starting with a Physical Therapy group that specializes in Scoliosis treatment, and they use what is called the Schroth Method of exercise therapy. Using my spine MRI and X-ray, my therapist told me two of my Vertebra, around the T11-T12 area, have rotated, with one being almost sideways.
Has anyone either had this, or know someone that has this spine issue? I am trying to find out if this means I will need surgery again, I'm hoping I won't, as I would rather use manual exercises if they work.

I too have scoliosis but no surgery. In addition to the curve, my rib cage is rotated. I have a Schroth PT as well. I believe she said rotation of the rib cage is common for scoliosis. I didn't ask details about the rotation so not sure whether my individual vertebrae rotate differently. See what your team advise about the need for more surgery. Best of luck!
@tillymack Thank you for replying. I have been to two sessions so far with my physical therapy group, and I will definitely be talking with them regarding if there is a need for surgery.
