@callmekate - My plan is the same: finish my last 4 months Evenity injections & then move on to strontium citrate a month after the last injection. I have spent 8 months of research on this forum as well as Inspire & have read numerous medical publications. I've been on a low-dose form of vaginal estrogen for several yrs, but about a yr ago the dr modified the dosage to hopefully address OP. I have read almost as many articles & medical publications stating that estrogen also improves bone density.
I've been rehearsing my script for the dr's appt next month where she will propose the follow-up drug. I just want to give my body a break & see what impact BHRT & SC & increased exercise will have on my bones. The dr did order the bone turnover markers before she started me on Evenity. I will request that they be ordered again...perhaps 6 mo after the last Evenity injection to see whether I'm gaining or losing density. I have an HMO version of Medicare & both Evenity & the initial bone turnover markers were approved without any hassle.
I very reluctantly went on Evenity (no prior drugs or fractures). I should have done my homework first. However, if there are significant gains, then it gives me a stronger starting point from which to work.
I will watch this thread to see if you post your progress. ~Blessings!
@babs10 - I wish I had started taking strontium citrate for a period of time and then taken a REMS scan to see what progress I may or may not have made. My HRT doses were increased about a yr ago, so hopefully they would have made a positive impact, too.
I actually did start taking SC for 2 mo before stopping it to take Evenity. I had just started my deep-dive into the medical publications, etc. In that short time the crackling sound (no pain/no restrictions) that my right ankle makes when I climb our stairs quit making that noise!
My friend went on SC instead of Fosamax & her hip pain is gone. I realize that others have more verifiable results, but these are my personal stories. Interestingly, I told a new friend in my osteoporosis exercise class about SC because due to very compromised jaw bones, she can't take any bone drug. She had never heard of it, but ran the idea by her dr last week. The dr had heard of it & recommended she try it for her severe OP! My friend is wondering why the dr did not offer up this option a long time ago.
Hopefully Evenity will give me a head-start from which to supplement w/SC & modify my hormone intake. Thanks for asking & listening!

@singingbones
My doctor just po me on HRT at the age of 71. Other docs wouldn't do it. How old are you?
@pbradley1954 - 73 next month
@callmekate, What do you wish you had done instead of going on Evenity? Thanks.

1 Reaction@singingbones - meant to add that the ankle crackling has returned since being on Evenity.
I plan to ask for bone turnover marker labs after being off of Evenity for a few months, too. We'll see if my doctor cooperates with any of my ideas!
