How soon after hysterectomy did you start chemo?
My doctor's coordinator said last week at my visit that she'd send me a telemedicine request for an education session prior to chemo. It will be a week tomorrow and I haven't heard from her. My hysterectomy was a month ago this coming Friday. My daughter - who has a solid biotech background- is questioning the wait and thinks I should call twice a day every day until they schedule that call and give me a chemo schedule. Opinions? Experience?

@hlthcr2000 Glad to hear this. I began chemo about 5 weeks after surgery. I had 6 cycles, 21 days between each, and had to be delayed once b/c my blood went low. Hang in there, as chemo can be challenging, but 3 blood transfusions and 27 radiation treatments later, I could almost believe none of my treatment happened. I feel that good now (1 yr post chemo this month). You are stronger than you know, and our bodies can handle a lot! Reach out here when you need support. It does help. 🤗

2 ReactionsMy chemo started 5 weeks from surgery. Our bodies need to heal sufficiently so that it can handle the toxicity of chemo and decrease chance of infection. I would call them to follow up, being stressed is not good for your immune system. Love and strength 💪❤️

3 ReactionsWow! Impressed. You would think there would be a standard- with exceptions for those who have issues after surgery.

1 Reaction@hlthcr2000 Thanks for the virtual roses! The first cycle of topotecan was as expected. Nausea and fatigue. Not as bad as carboplatin though. I see the eye specialist Wednesday having done an MRI of my head last Saturday! They found my brain … I have one!
I also found out that I’m pre diabetic. Not unexpected because of the Whipples procedure in 2021.
I’m keeping all my doctors guessing! And adding a few new ones to the list as well.
