Stage 3b on my heel, two surgeries including a skin graft, no weight-bearing for four months. Physical therapy ongoing and walking fine now, can’t do stairs well. Immunotherapy caused a colitis-like side effect so now having entivio infusions. Cancer in-situ remains in my heel, only one lymph node was removed. How did we get melanoma on the bottom of out feet?

@zxc142 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect and to the "club" of melanoma. I am also treating with Entyvio for immune checkpoint inhibitor colitis that had been triggered by Keytruda I'd been on for my stage 4 metastatic melanoma so I can relate to that part of your journey.

Do you know if you had acral lentiginous melanoma? That's the most common type found on the sole of the foot and is not related to ultraviolet light, or sun exposure. It may be genetic, viral or trauma induced. That must have been so difficult to be non-weightbearing for so long. Has the melanoma in situ been removed or are you scheduled for an upcoming procedure?
