Severe osteoporosis at 76: Is it too late for help?
Today, my endocrinologist said it was too late to make my bones stronger. I have severe osteoporosis and have had several compression fractures in my back. I'm 76, but I'm not really ready to give up, but I don't know what to do.

Treatment might save you the pain of a fracture. Which is a good thing.

3 Reactions@andieg I'm curious, how long have you been using red light therapy and has it improved your DEXA scores?
You do NOT give up! Why can’t you go on Prolia ( a shot every six months)? Are you seeing an Endocrynologist ( specialist for Osteoporosis). A regular Dr is not qualified. Always get a second opinion. You have plenty of good years ahead of you ❤️❤️

Hopefully the best choice is the one in consultation with a physician who is keeping up with the latest research and a patient who has done her own research.

Glad you are here. Lots to learn about osteoporosis and the variety of ways that people are approaching care. Are you working with an endocrinologist? What are the suggestions for treatment are you considering?

2 Reactions@andieg This isn't babbling. This is what I'd call wonderful help and support. Thank you for taking the time to help me, and all of us on this site. I'm going to look into this!

2 Reactions@mmjhinger8 It's indeed scary to first learn about osteoporosis. I just came into the field last December.
One of the best things I can offer you is that there are tons of people on this site and on other sites who've reversed osteoporosis naturally: food, supplements, exercise and BHRT.
It's worth taking your time looking into all your options.
You will be fine! We all will.

6 ReactionsLet's beat it! I plan on working hard to show the doctors it can be reversed. Your endocronologist sounds like a rheumatologist I saw...very negative. I am starting the ONERO program tomorrow, am changing up my diet to include more protein and calcium, and trying OSTEOStrong in April. Keep trying...don't give up! Also, maybe get a REM scan to see if maybe your bone quality is okay. Maybe go to a functional medicine doctor. I saw one on Monday and she made me feel much more optimistic.
