Buried penis syndrome almost a year after prostate surgery

Posted by justme2222 @justme2222, 2 days ago

My husband had prostate surgery in May 2025. He is still unable to pee. He leaks all day long and now he’s starting to have swelling and hardening of the scrotum which can be very painful. And his penis has shrunk up into this area. I believe I’ve read people talk about turtling? I’ve looked up several things and found articles on buried penis syndrome, but the information is not very helpful.
My husband is frustrated and annoyed and feeling very deflated. Seems like we take one step forward and three steps backwards.
Does anyone have experience with this?
Does this get better?
Who do we see?
Seems like all his doctors are like let’s watch and wait and we don’t feel like we’re getting any help

Yes, fellowship-trained reconstructive urologists specialize in treating a buried penis, including cases resulting from scarring, fat pad changes, or, skin issues following prostate cancer treatment. These specialists, often found at academic medical centers, use surgical techniques like mons panniculectomy and skin grafts to restore function and anatomy.

Prostatectomy itself seldom changes penis that much.

The length lost is usually about 1 cm which is about 1/4 " , IF it happens. I am so sorry to hear that your husband has to deal with such drastic change which is more often induced by long ADT course and even more so in person that is obese regardless of the treatment.

If your husband is not obese and did not use any ADT than surgery must have been very and unusually extensive : (.

Did his cancer involve bladder neck or part of a bladder ? : ( If not, my suggestion would be to go to very experienced surgeon and not deal with original one since he might have caused your husband's condition by not being experienced enough with proper RP technique : ((( .
