2 ReactionsLong, long story about my son. I recently cut ties with my son and his family. I am moving on with my life. My blood pressure has dropped to normal. Overall it has been hard and painful. I have chosen my health.

1 ReactionI have cut ties with family, friends and personal relationship due to not understanding the side effects I experience due to taking Tamoxifen for breast cancer prevention and being a man. People don’t understand or assume I am overthinking as a man. Menopause is real and sucks. Its not a disability, its a part of life. Its tough walking away but I focus on quality friendships, vs quantity.
I know how you feel. Every day I wonder how I can live with a person who is so nervous and so negative it effects my entire life and the peace I used to feel around me.
But here we are...me 79 and that person 83.
What to do...live with it.

1 Reaction@jamiemj I can relate to you as my partner is also negative and bitter about the future. Ever since his stroke he has become angry at everything and everyone. His depression is palpable every morning. It’s hard not to be dragged down with him. He is 79 and his health is poor because of his mental state. I am 72 and in good health. I will not abandon him because that is my vow to him 42 years ago. I feel your despair and hope that you can take solace in the fact that you are not alone. Hugs

Thanks for you reply.
I hope you do not have to stay with him every day and can get out and have somewhat of a a life without him. Your being in good health is definitely a plus for you.
Good luck.

Good for you! Your health is very important especially at a later age. That's wonderful that your blood pressure is back to normal! I'm 79 and feel the same way about remaining healthy. My husband died in 2024 and most of our friends are up in Heaven with him. I have a son but he hasn't contacted me in 20 years. I thought about contacting him because I was lonely but then I remembered the differences we had and I know my health would suffer if I contacted him. So I just gave everything up to God and it has worked out very well!
I wish you the best.
