Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritic Knees
I am a 77 year old woman with arthritic knees where it's difficult for me to walk and I'm trying to avoid knee replacement. I have done the Synvisc injections and physical therapy-- to no avail. Is there anyone here who has had stem cell therapy for arthritic knees and I would like to know your outcome. I know there are two, one where bone marrow is removed and the other where they take fat from the abdomen and regenerate and inject into the knees. I would like to know the cost and how long the procedure takes and any other information which would be helpful to me. I live in North Jersey and am currently looking for clinics in my area who perform this procedure. I appreciate your help.

How do you save these threads of conversations? Thank you!
Hi @ees1, may I ask what you mean by save these threads? The way Connect works is, when you participate in a discussion you are automatically subscribed to it and will receive email notifications of any new email posts. The subscriptions to each discussion and group are customizable. Is there something I could help you with or better explain?
I do get those notifications but when activity ends I'd still like to be able to read entire thread again. Instead I've just been taking photos of each page and saving photos. Has to be better way to locate old threads. Thanks for any help!!!!
@ees1, A couple of ways to do this would be to bookmark the specific page or discussion on your computer. To do this (it should be similar for any web browser):
- Open the discussion on a web page - you could do this by clicking on VIEW & REPLY in your email notification
- Look at the very top of your screen when the discussion is open
- There should be a tab that says "Bookmarks"
- Click on Bookmarks
- There should be some variant of "Bookmark this page" - click on it
Once you bookmark the discussions you should be able to just open your web browser and click on the Bookmark tab at the top and it will list the websites (discussions) you have bookmarked. You can repeat this process for any specific conversation you want to be able to locate easily.
Another option is to click on your own username (@ees1) to view your profile which will bring up all of the posts you have made to discussions.
Another option is to go directly to the groups page, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/groups/. From there you can pick the specific group you want to participate in, click on it, and it will list all of the discussions. Discussions with the most recent post will always be moved to the top of the list though, so it may look different each time you access the group.
I hope these suggestions make it a bit easier to find your specific discussions.
@ees1, I forgot a rather obvious option for bookmarking conversations as well:
- At the bottom of a discussion post, right next to the Heart "like" symbol is a another symbol
- Click on that symbol to bookmark a discussion or post
- To access the conversations you have bookmarked, click on your own username to get to your profile
- On the top of the page, under your profile description (may be blank if you have not edited it) click on the "My Bookmarks" tab
Please let us know how it turns out. Good luck !!
Was that a PRP Injection on your back or Stem Cell Injection?
I was advised that I need knee replacement due to arthritis , bone on bone and my lower leg rotating ...I need help deciding . My knee is locking up on me and causing back pain and my good leg to hurt. I am interested in stem cell therapy as I am scared to death about any kind of surgery. Who do I talk with, how much does it cost, how long is the wait time, how long is my down time is there any guarantee of a length of time this should work and if they do the therapy and it doesn't work would I not be able to repeat the therapy or am I destined for surgery of knee replacement. If you dont this where do I go for this procedure .Thank you in advance.
Hello @packratfl and welcome to Connect. I merged your discussion with an existing discussion called Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritic Knees. I did this so you could read through the other posts by the members and meet the members currently discussing stem cell treatments for arthritic knees. If you are replying by email, I suggest clicking on VIEW & REPLY and you will be automatically brought to the new location of your post. You will also notice that just above the new location of your post is information about stem cell treatments at Mayo Clinic.
Thank you
