I was diagnosed with Graves in 2008. My TSH was high, Free T3 was high and my Free T4 was 4 times higher than the high side of the "normal range". I had a goiter, a racing heart, and was later told I had become mean which was very or of sorts for me. The first thing the MDs told me was "We need to take that thyroid out!" Then I saw an Endocrinologist who ASKED ME what I wanted to do. I told him I wanted to try medication and he said ok. I was on anti thyroid for a few years but then all my numbers were going down. We stepped me down and down and down till I was off meds completely. That was 2013 and I've been in total remission since then. Remission is REAL and wonderful!

@mbadt So one doctor wanted to remove your thyroid and another one helped you get off the medications you were on and found that your thyroid was normal or fine?

What medications did they have you on and what and how did the doctor help you off of them?
