@gravity3 and I would just add that along with a DEXA as one approaches menopause consider hormonal treatment . If one addresses the one huge root cause of bone loss being that our hormones change , if you provide hormones it is likely many could avoid getting osteoporosis at all!!! Proactive action could be a game changer !!!

@gravity3 In the relative absence of information from our primary care doctors and gynecologists, I think all we can do is talk to our daughters, nieces, sisters, and friends about the importance of being proactive with our bones.
