Thank you for your very persistent efforts to connect the cystic fibrosis community. The addition of the CF support page to the Mayo Clinic Connect is indeed a great stride forward! No matter when we are diagnosed, we have survived this monster of a disease. We have, all of us, whether known or unknown, lived with it our entire life. I have recently definitively decided that living and not knowing or having a full understanding of an illness or life circumstances ultimately is much more difficult than having known it. Living with CF presents a mixed bag of struggles. You are best able to treat and care for them if you know they exist! The storms may rise up but they are not insurmountable with knowledge and faith. Through those struggles we learn of resilience and gather wisdom for whatever else life has in store. Living with CF for 56 years (diagnosed at 3) has taught me much. I cherish and celebrate all who have treated and cared for me for so many years. Those unsung heroes who walk our path with us and often light the way for the next treatment and the next step are invaluable. I feel so blessed to know you, Pug! Your persistence has gone unrecognized for much too long. I will make better efforts to join the monthly CF support group and feel so fortunate to have worked on the Mayo CF Patient and Families Advisory Board. These are two wonderful groups and I encourage all those with CF and beloved family members of people with CF to join. May the Spirit of sea, salt and air fill our breath always.
