Hi, Mike. It does. But it puzzles me why. Nothing about these medicinal foods seems to warrant the need for a prescription. The situation may be different in different states, different locales. If you're curious, I'd ask my local provider, m PCP. All I can say with certainty is that here in Colorado I needed a prescription. Good luck! –Ray
