Anyone doing Simponi Aria infusion?

Anne here again. I forgot something. Your insurance company may have a policy that a patient must try methotrexate BEFORE they will start to pay for Simponi Aria. My doc calls it "fail before play." The patient has to try the cheaper medication (methotrexate) before the insurance company will pay for the more expensive medication (Simponi Aria). Maybe that's where the confusion came from? 🙂

@annewoodmayo Thanks for your responses! Apparently the insurance is using a study that showed SAria was more effective when combined with methotrexate when treating moderate to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since my AI disease, Relapsing Polychondritis, is so rare, the rheumatologists use the protocol for treating RA which I have very mildly. If I had psoriatic arthritis, I wouldn't have to take Methotrexate! I am realizing how crazy our health care and health insurance really is! 🙂
