Yes! I've been getting 1-hr treatments every other week since last summer.
Medicare doesn't generally cover the cost though. If you haven't had acupuncture before please be patient. It doesn't cure you overnight and it doesn't work for everyone. Chinese medicine has been around for a long time. It works for me.
@aurorasinmt2 Thank you for responding. I am new to neuropathy and of course I was given medication which I prefer not to take. I prefer to go as homeopathic as possible. I will try acupuncture and see how it goes. Thanks again.

@johnbishop My doctor prescribed gabapentin caps. The podiatrist I saw initially gave me a topical cream similar to Voltran but that did little good. I am trying the script, 2x a day. My concern, however, are the side effects. Miriam72

@miriam72 - You might want to scan through the different therapies/treatments listed on the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy if you haven't already seen them - https://www.foundationforpn.org/therapies/.
Welcome @meerah, You mentioned you though alpha lipoic acid was helpful and you were planning to get some for your mom. I thought you might also want to scan through the many discussions here on Connect for "neuropathy what helps". Here's a search link that lists the different discussions - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/discussions/
Are your neuropathy symptoms the same as your mom's symptoms?
@miriam72
I have NP for at least 10 years, have tried many remedies over time, which may help for a short period.
I have had about 10 treatments and feel a small amount better

@masmith1945
If you don’t mind me asking, what sort of treatments have you experienced?
I would like to know how I got NP and goes it get better or progressively worst. I think I will be trying acupuncture. Thanks.
I know exactly what caused my neuropathy: the Taxol that I got for several months to treat my breast cancer. I haven't had an infusion for 3 months and the discomfort continues. My feet are always cold, sensitive to touch and walking feels very crunchy. I refuse to take gabapentin or lyrica. Toughing it out with Tylenol and hoping to turn a corner at some point in time.
After 15 years of neuropathy in my feet I’m convinced I will have it for life! However there is one medication that is spoken about here but not frequently enough.
It is LDN~ Low dose naltrexone…it works very well for pain but not for numbness or stiffness. https://ldnresearchtrust.org/sites/default/files/2020-04/Dosing-Info-a4_0.pdf
Also, I ride an e-bike a few days a week which helps to keep my legs strong compensating for any weakness in my feet or loss of balance.

I swear by Mayo and Jacksonville is very organized.
People are professional yet very kind.
