After two years of trial and error I have reached the same conclusion about tramadol and zoldidem. I do not care for the thick head I wake up with but better than the alternative.

@hunt You are so right, sleep deprivation is the pits and creates and even THICKER head!!! I can usually get rid of the thick head by ingesting my caffeine laden COFFEE. Another thing I use if I do wake up and it's still 1-1.5 hrs. away from my next dose of tramadol and zolpidem, I take 3 mg of melatonin and a tylenol 500 mg. They're both fast acting. I take my zolpidem in two 5mg doses, one at 9:45 PM and one at 2 AM, and my 25 mg tramadol dose is at the same times as zolpidem. I don't want to get my dosing times messed up, so that's why I try not to take meds early...it's tough, but doable, but it does make some nights excruciating for sure.
