Hi, I am new to the PSC blog. I was diagnosed a couple years ago and am being monitored by my gastronoligist. I am not convinced he is up to date on PSC. I am really worried about it. He does want to see me every 3 months after each of my bloodwork’s I have done. I am due for a meeting now but need to get my bloodwork completed first. I am just not sure I am seeing the right doctor.
I get nauseous after I eat my meals and he has not been able to find out why. Could this be caused by the PSC? I am on Ursodiol for the itching and that helps a lot. I am so fatigued all the time that If I sit down, I can fall asleep.

@grandmapat Good Morning grandmapat, I want to welcome you to mayo Clinic Connect. I am a grandma (G'ma), and I also had a diagnosis of PSC and experienced all of the symptoms that you are experiencing. The itching, hausea, fatigue are common symptoms for all liver diseases.
I was also treated by a GI (gastroenterologist ) a after referral by PCP. I felt very comfortable with my GI who had extensive knowledge of liver disease, He consulted with a liver specialist and my diagnosis for PSC was confirmed with an endoscopy that showed the blockages in m y bile ducts (non-medical language). My labs and office visits were every 3 months, which I think is routine. After nearly 8 years, I was referred to Liver Transplant Center where I learned that I needed to have a liver transplant. I did receive a liver transplant in 2009 at age 60.

Grandmapat, I want to invite you to this disciussion in the Mayo Connect Support Group. I really like this discussion because it begins with early experiences with PSC. I think you will find it informative as you prepare for your next doctor visit and labs. Your questions and comments are most welcome, and I will be looking forward to meeting you there.
