How do you cope with the pain?

@loriesco I have been prescribed Oxycodone since 2010 following failed spinal fusion. I recently moved and cannot find a local pain management specialist who will continue the rx. I've been told I will be weaned off both short- and long-acting scripts. I assume this is in response to the change in CDC guidelines. All to say I wonder if you have any suggestions regarding my need to continue meds. I cannot walk without them (also have several autoimmune issues that heighten pain). This change in protocol is barbaric. Thanks for any input.

@debec that is barbaric and you will have to tell them that you are suffering. The keyword is suffering. They are there to alleviate your suffering. In addition there is a CDC guideline for long-term chronic pain that is still in fact as far as I know. If I go to look for the link, it might delete this email so I’ll send it and see if I could find it. Let me know if you have success in finding it.

@debec OK I found several links, but I don’t have time to go through and give you the one you might specifically need so why don’t you go through them? I don’t see any evidence that anything has changed long-term. Chronic pain is still managed by opioid and there’s a guideline. https://www.google.com/search

@debec I took 20 mg Oxy four times a day for years…then they stopped working so I stopped them and I went through withdrawal…not fun. Since then no opioid works for me so I have pain daily! Sorry you’re also suffering!

@debec
I take Kratom for the pain. It doesn't take much to help.
Long term use can damage the liver same as Oxy can but if you're hurting, you need to be able to turn to something for help.
Kratom is a leaf that's dried crushed into a powder.
Mix it with water or juice. Never purchase from a gas station but instead a reputable company online such as Kingdom Kratom.
