Anyone else suffering arthritis in their feet? OUCH!

Posted by Bluegrass Gal @cindychesler, Jul 15, 2024

I suffer from arthritis in my feet along with Pes Cavus (really high arches considered a deformity). I have gotten BMAC stem cell therapy which only lasted a few weeks. Steroid shots. Physical therapy. And acupuncture and several rounds of an herb concoction that mixes with water. Additionally I apply ice packs and occasionally heat packs. All give temporary relief. I cannot take Celebrex, Advil or Aleve. I do not have rheumatoid arthritis. Any long term solutions?

I have an arthritic toe and my podiatist recommended I add a Carbon Insole to my Rockport shoes which I have done and it definitely makes a significant difference.

I have severe arthritis in both feet but especially in my left. That, along with completely numb toes on my left foot. Logic would dictate that if my toes are numb, there would be no pain felt. Not true. The pain feels like it is so deep, but when I try to rub my feet, I can't feel my toes. The pain is definitely in the joint. What was said about the pain being caused by inflammation is very true. Control the inflammation and the pain is minimal. As for the walking, I say go for it, with or without a walker or other aide. Over the years, the one constant has been that the best thing to control arthritis pain is to exercise and remain active. As much pain as I have, being motivated to move helps. This group always gives me the lift I need to keep moving. My podiatrist suggested inserts and within a month after using them, there was a noticeable improvement. I have also read of others that have trouble walking on grass and gravel. Living in the country, both are in great abundance and hard to avoid. But in preparing for retirement, we have done a lot of work around our acreage to make it easier to walk. It has made a tremendous difference. There are many things that can be done to help with arthritis pain. Nutrition is one but I wish there was more in these groups that talked about nutrition and its effect on inflammation. Everyone is different. I, personally, thank everyone who has shared a personal journey, a suggestion, words of encouragement. It is much appreciated.

what I've found is "arthritis" doesn't cause pain. It is what arthritis causes to happen which causes the pain. You may have gout. Try a low-purine diet. Also get a simple blood test for high uric acid. If it is different than normal possible you have gout arthritis. Take Zazzee Tart Cherry Capsules on Amazon. See if you notice a difference.
You could also try upping your B vitamins with iron to see if you can control the pain which may be caused by the nerve sheaths becoming inflamed. I found both of those my problem. You didn't say what kind of pain you were experiencing? if it feels like rheumatoid but they tell you it's not - then its gout. You don't have to have a gout flare to have gout. I walked around with low-grade inflammation for THIRTY YEARS because I figured out (not the doctors) it was gout. Drs would always say "arthritis." Just arthritis. Because my body is riddled with it. But its not what causes the sensation of pain. THAT was caused by pressure in the joints from inflammation.

My feet are KILLING me during this cold weather. And it doesn’t seem to be abating as the temp rises. I thought it was idiopathic neuropathy, since I’m not diabetic. How do you tell the difference? Arthritis never entered my mind.

@zilla describe your pain. When and how, your age. and what imaging you've had. When I am iron deficient my legs and feet have problems. When I don't exercise enough. Gotta keep the circulation going. Got a stationary bike?

F82, lots of DJD in low back but no surgeries except a total knee 10 years ago which left me in pain. I am ridiculously sensitive to cold and/or damp weather. This winter has been killer. I go to the gym at least 3xweek just to keep myself moving - can barely walk lately. The burning numbness seems to be moving into my ankles and up my lower legs. Nothing relieves it. I always assumed it was neuropathy. I much prefer arthritis, at least that gives me a fighting chance. What shocked me this time is that when the temperature improved, my feet didn’t.

@loriesco I’m wondering what lead to your choice of this brand. I see many choices.

@loll it had the highest potency and the right components. I didn’t see it in the stores in this form or this quantity or this value and it came right to my door for free. And it worked like a charm. I can’t recommend anything else because I didn’t need to try anything else not to say there might not be something else, but none of the stores offered the quantity of ingredient per capsule per price. Additionally, I have IBS and some of the other products had things in it that I can’t digest. This was the cleanest and it gave me no stomach aches!

@brucerocheleau I have arthritis in the big toe on my right foot. It only started bothering me when I started playing Pickleball. I started using a toe separator and that helps tremendously. From time to time I will take Tylenol for arthritis, but am not a fan of relying on medications. I also have some CBD cream I use. I will say the toe separator is a huge help. I don't sleep with it on and from time to time I do experience pain just while laying in bed. But I highly recommend the separator . I purchased mine on Amazon. Best wishes.

Thanks for the ideas. The toe separator sounds interesting--I have an older brother whose big toe turned and went under his second toe--I wonder if this could have prevented this condition?
