Hello @shaily and welcome to Connect. Thank you for coming to Connect with your question for your friend about breast cancer.
I would like to introduce @barbarah who also had breast cancer, surgical removal and chemotherapy as well.
@shaily, while we wait, would you mind sharing a bit more about your friends situation? What did the physician say about why chemotherapy was necessary after removal of the breast?
Her oncologist would know the answer to that.
Hi
C-erbB2 is also known as HER-2/neu. Here is an article from Mayo Clinic describing what this means http://www.mayoclinic.org/breast-cancer/expert-answers/faq-20058066
Because HER2-positive breast cancers tend to grow faster and are more likely to spread and come back compared to HER2-negative breast cancers, treatment usually includes chemotherapy. Luckily there are some treatments designed specifically for HER2-positive breast cancer to help reduce the risk of spread and recurrence after surgery.
Thank you for reply. She is going to remove her breast and after three week as per doctor chemotherapy will start..
