While I am not normally around people who are passing on, I am sensitive to their passing. My latest was over ten years ago, My wife was dying of ALS. She did not wake up for breakfast. I talked to her for over two hours and then I said good-bye and kissed her. My daughter who was her caregiver, checked her at 2pm and did not find a pulse or breathing. Officially, my wife died at 2 pm. I believe she passed before Noon.

When I was a teen-ager, my folks lived in a rural development. The main road was a letter P with the base being the entrance to the development. My folks lived at the bottom of the P and another family lived at the top. I would walk the loop at night after my homework. Three people lived in that house. A middle aged couple and her mother. One night as I was walking passed their house, something didn't seem right. When I got home, I asked my Mom if any thing happened to them today. She said yes, her mother died today.

My mother died from a rare form of Leukemia. I saw her in the morning in the hospital with my dad. She looked at my dad, and said, "I want to go home!" My dad talked with the doctors. I went work. After lunch my dad went to check her out and bring her home. She died while he was in the admin office, I got an emergency call from my office and drove to the hospital. My dad was still there packing up her stuff.

The spirit is a powerful force both while living and then pulling free to return to God.

@rollingf I'm sorry you've had those experiences with the death of loved ones in your life but we all seem to have them at one time or another. When my Mom died she told me in the hospital that she was going home tonight but not to our home. Also in 2024 my husband knew he was dying and said so. You are right. The spirit is a powerful force and especially so when returning to God. However we will all be together again in Heaven but it's in God's time and we have to wait for that time which can be hard and lonely. We just have to have faith and keep praying to God. He's always there for us.

@rollingf I posted something about this in a comment to another person. It is true, universally, that people say they want to go "home." My dad said it over and over. I suggested a couple of books on NDEs and I truly believe that our souls leave our human vessels when we pass. I also believe in Jung's version of "synchronicity" as well as connections to everything and everyone. Some connections are stronger due to the relationship and there is a knowing that we have deep withing us. There is no coincidence. Everything happens for a reason and those reasons we may or may not know, but we will at some point. We know so little about the Universe, quantum mechanics and consciousness. I have a knowing deep withing me and maybe some of you do as well. I believe that is the part of me that is connected to everything. Thank you for your post!!

@rollingf Also, the original conversation is in the Loss and Grief support page and the post was "Coping with the Future."
