The normal way to do proton radiation is in 39 sessions like IMRT. Doing it in five sessions like SBRT and then adding HDR to it sounds to me like a really good trial. That is something they are doing now with SBRT for more advanced cases.
Definitely looking forward to what the results are, Unfortunately, it can take 10+ years to get the real feedback. The thing is, it shouldn’t take much to find out that it does work, I guess the question is do you get the same benefit of minimal damage to other tissue from just doing the one HDR session? Sure sounds like that’s what they are trying to find out, as you surmise.
